about

氏。 海洋's documental / realistic approach is not overwhelmed by what's in front of the lens. In a way, it's pure register. This is not to say their pictures are fortuitous: they seem to occur almost by an accident of the city, like the cables portrayed, but in the midst of this worldliness of life, they capture (with an endearing eye) greater objects claiming for attention, like the Tokyo Skytree tower—a god-like monument ahead and above the sheer nothingness of those streets.

"A residential area within Tokyo... or, to be more specific, not a touristic part of the city. Not too many people on the street. I like the charm of the electrical grids, since I didn't see a place in Tokyo where they were as apparent. Some of the pictures were taken in Ueno; a couple others in Asakusa."
